Weber County signs $48,790 agreement for Weber Center renovation feasibility study

Weber County commissioners on Aug. 19 approved an agreement with MHTN Architects Inc. for a feasibility study of the Weber Center exterior and interior renovations, at a cost of $48,790 and an estimated 16-week completion timeline.
County staff presenter Scott Mendoza described the study as a way to identify improvements to public wayfinding, office layout and employee safety and to evaluate how the Weber Center will interface with a planned parking structure. “They'll be looking at office layouts, which can lead to organizational efficiency and ' providing safety and maybe not have every area within the Weber Center accessible to everyone all the time,” Mendoza said.
MHTN will lead workshops and meetings, develop a final report with findings and recommendations, provide phasing options and supply cost estimates for each work element. Mendoza said the study's cost estimate is $48,790 and the work is expected to take about 16 weeks to complete.
A commissioner moved to approve the agreement; the motion was seconded and the vote recorded as unanimous in favor. Commissioners noted the study builds on prior planning work and will inform future decisions about a parking terrace and building modifications.
