Weber County canvassers certify Ogden Valley City primary results with 60.94% turnout reported

The Weber County Board of Canvassers on Aug. 26 certified the results of the 2025 Ogden Valley City primary election after an election official summarized ballots cast, rejected ballots and precinct-level reporting.
Lauren Schaefer, the county elections official who canvassed Ogden Valley City results for the board, told commissioners, “We had 4,895 registered voters in the valley with a 60.94% turnout.” She said the office counted 2,983 ballots and rejected 31.
Schaefer said the office received 5,197 mailed ballots and recorded 3,014 cast by mail, with 166 returned as undeliverable and 2,183 not returned. She also said 16 provisional ballots were cast and two provisional ballots were rejected because the provisional form was incomplete. In a later breakdown Schaefer provided reasons for rejected mailed ballots—25 returned past the deadline, two where the signature did not match the record, one unsigned and one signed by someone other than the voter—that totaled 29; the earlier total she gave of rejected ballots was 31.
The top vote-getters in the mayor and council races, as read by Schaefer, were Shanna Francis (49.18%) and Janet Wampler (37.67%) for mayor; Tia Shaw (32.91%) and Chelsea J. Argyle (27.85%) for City Council seat 1; Peggy Dooling Baker (60.45%) and Abe Kelly Wanksgard (29.85%) for seat 2; Kay Hoagland (59.16%) and Fred W. Blickle (15.88%) for seat 3 after a candidate withdrawal moved Blickle into the second-place position; Chad Booth (77.69%) and Laura Warburton (10.75%) for seat 4; and Don Hickman (48.33%) and Dan Davenport (32.11%) for seat 5.
Schaefer said the office was able to provide precinct-level reports for the first time because precincts with fewer than 10 voters were suppressed to protect voter secrecy; commissioners were advised that some precinct entries would therefore appear blank in the report.
Commissioners moved to accept Schaefer’s presentation and the board of canvassers’ recommendations “and the names with the percentages as read.” The motion passed by unanimous voice and roll-call votes, and the board adjourned the canvass and reconvened the public meeting.
The certification included a brief administrative step to document that Lynell Jensen, the county treasurer, would sign the certification in place of an absent commissioner as allowed by state statute; commissioners instructed staff to reissue a clean signature sheet for record-keeping.
