County approves DecoSecure document‑sharing contract for attorney’s office; first year prorated at $39,000

Weber County commissioners approved a contract with DecoSecure on Sept. 2 to provide document‑sharing services for the county attorney’s office. County staff said the vendor replaces a prior ShareFile arrangement and that DecoSecure carries cyber‑liability insurance written into the contract.
Chris Crockett, who presented the item, said the contract is prorated for March through December 2025; the county will pay $39,000 for that partial year and may renew the contract annually for up to five years at about $49,000 per year thereafter. Crockett said staff confirmed funding was available in the budget and that the new contract replaces a more expensive prior agreement.
Commissioners asked whether money was budgeted for the contract; Crockett said staff had reviewed budget lines and that the DecoSecure contract replaces the prior arrangement and will cost less than continuing the old agreement. Commissioners approved the contract by voice vote; the transcript records the motion, a budget confirmation question and the approval vote.
The contract contains a cyber‑liability insurance requirement that county staff said was important because of the sensitive nature of attorney‑office case files. The county will finalize contract cleanup and protections as part of bringing the written contract record up to date.
