County staff presented a resolution asking Prince Edward County to participate in settlement agreements with opioid manufacturers and related entities, continuing the county’s engagement in national settlement programs.
The presenter said the county has previously participated in opioid settlement distributions and that the current resolution would authorize the county attorney to execute documents necessary to effectuate participation in additional settlements, including actions involving Purdue Pharma and related corporate entities. The motion to adopt the resolution was moved, seconded and approved by the board.
No further conditions were added during the meeting. Staff indicated that funds received under settlements would be distributed per the terms of the settlement agreements and applicable law; no specific allocation decisions were made at the meeting.
