The Planning Commission voted to recommend that the city council consider detaching a roughly 20‑foot strip of land to resolve a property‑line issue where a shed sits partially inside city limits. Staff explained the yellow‑highlighted area on the plan shows city land to be detached so the shed would fall entirely within the adjacent township parcel.
Staff said the strip is a narrow band along the length of the parcel and that the owners requested deannexation to clean up an encroachment issue; city staff told the commission that the tax impact of this small detachment is minimal. The parcel currently straddles the municipal boundary; staff said the parcel on the top of the map is owned by a building supply business and the shed is on the parcel being tidied up.
The commission recommended approval and will forward its recommendation to city council for final action.
