Board confirms Elba Island special assessment role after brief public hearing

The Grosse Ile Township Board closed a public hearing and then adopted a resolution confirming the special assessment roll for Elba Island Drive and Bridal Road on Aug. 11. The public hearing drew one speaker, Elba Island resident John Friese, who thanked staff and neighbors for coordinating the effort and said he understood the construction timeline had been delayed and expected work to start in the next two weeks. Township staff explained that the assessment roll establishes the amount each property owner will pay on their taxes for improvements to the private section of Elba Island Drive. The resolution adopted at the meeting confirms the assessment roll as published in the Aug. 11 meeting packet. After the public hearing closed, the board moved to add the resolution to the agenda as action item 0.5, approved the amended agenda and then took a motion to adopt the resolution; the board voted in favor and the motion carried.
