Lockport council approves Mill Creek grants, well repair, facade aid and several appointments

The Lockport City Council voted on a set of administrative and capital items including two Mill Creek actions, emergency well repairs, a downtown facade grant and several personnel appointments.

The council approved acceptance of a Mill Creek proposal and executed an Illinois EPA grant agreement for creek remediation work; approved an emergency contract to repair Well 14 after staff found iron build-up and pump damage; awarded a facade-and-site improvement grant for the Hamilton Court condominium building; confirmed an interim city attorney appointment; and approved a planning-and-zoning appointment and a standard consent agenda of routine contracts and bond releases.

Why it matters: the Mill Creek work and the Well 14 repair are capital projects intended to reduce erosion and maintain water supply reliability; the facade grant uses city matching funds to support downtown building rehabilitation; the personnel actions maintain continuity in legal and land-use functions.

Council approved the Mill Creek proposal and authorized the city to enter the IEPA grant agreement after a staff briefing and technical questions about bank stabilization methods.
