The figures were presented as initial results from the first quarter following system implementation and described as significant reductions in the city's reliance on the potable water supply.
"Potable water consumption has been reduced by approximately 80%. This translates to an annual savings of 106,000,000 gallons of potable water and an estimated cost reduction of just over $1,000,000," the speaker reported. Staff also noted completion of the City of Lockport's 2024 water‑quality report and said the report will be included in the upcoming water bill; staff stated that Lockport's drinking water met all federal and state standards with no exceedances during 02/2024.
Council members congratulated the public‑works team on the reported savings. Staff said the water‑quality report is posted on the city's website and that the utility will include the notice in customer bills.
