The City Commission authorized work with Elevator Sales and Services to upgrade two of the city’s four elevators to comply with changes in the state elevator code. Staff said two elevators already have the required equipment built into the controls and the other two do not; code changes create a limited compliance window that requires the upgrades.

The request was routed through the city’s existing elevator contractor to take advantage of contractors already on site for other projects. Staff requested authorization not to exceed $42,000 for the upgrades. Commissioners approved the purchase on voice vote.
