Council approves emergency repair authorization after storm snapped power pole at Chevron; lift station running on generator

Lockport City Council approved a staff request to accept an emergency repair proposal for a storm‑damaged power pole near the Chevron site and to authorize repairs not to exceed the cost noted in the staff memorandum.
Staff described damage from the August storm event, saying a deteriorating power pole “went down and snap[ped]. It kinda got hung up and basically took off our pole barn that's out there on the Chevron site along with the lift station for the stormwater.” Staff said the stormwater lift station had been switched to generator power and “is currently running on generator,” and that ComEd personnel had temporarily braced and deenergized the pole but would return to install a new pole so the site can be returned to normal power service.
Council moved to accept the emergency proposal for repairs at the Chevron site and to authorize the expenditure under resolution 25‑0‑15. The motion was seconded and carried on roll call. Staff said the repairs would allow the city to remove the lift station from generator power once the new conductor and pole work are completed and ComEd completes the permanent electrical work.
No additional funding action or detailed construction schedule was presented at the meeting; staff said they would proceed with the emergency repair to restore normal service.
