Commission OKs construction agreement for four lot splits on Wing Avenue

The Kentwood City Commission on Aug. 11 authorized the mayor to enter into a construction agreement with Bosco Construction to provide water and sewer work for four lot splits at 5591 Wing Avenue. The agreement covers only water and sewer work under what the presenter described as a Grand Rapids agreement and was approved by voice vote. The item was presented by a city staff member who said the work is limited to water and sewer and that Bosco Construction will self‑inspect the work. "They'll be self inspecting, but we do have money in escrow to cover those inspection costs," the presenter said. Commissioners had no substantive objections; the motion to approve was made and supported and the commission voted in favor. Because the approval covers only utility construction for lot splits, the city will rely on the escrowed inspection funds rather than city crews to perform inspections.
