The Livonia City Council unanimously approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Michigan Department of Transportation to modernize traffic signals at two intersections: 5 Mile Road at Levan and Newburgh Road at Linden. Council members described the work as a routine but important upgrade to allow newer traffic signals to communicate with one another and to improve traffic flow. “Hats off to the engineering department for and DPW and all that helped to get this done,” Council Member Donovic said. Council approval authorizes the city to enter an agreement with MDOT and proceed with engineering and construction coordination. The council recorded a 7‑0 vote in favor; no amendments were offered at the meeting. Engineering staff previously reviewed the project in the study session and characterized it as a standard modernization effort involving signal hardware, communications and timing updates.
