Highwoods council approves June 2025 financial report; revenues ahead after real-estate allotment

The City of Highwoods City Council approved the June 2025 financial report at its Aug. 5 meeting after a staff presentation and a motion and second. Staff said the city is “where we expected to be” with two months into the fiscal year and that revenues were slightly heavy because the city had received much of its real-estate allotment for the year.
A staff speaker told the council that expenditures will likely pick up through about October, after which revenues and expenditures will “balance approximately evenly throughout the rest of the year.” Council members asked about sales-tax data year over year; staff said the monthly sales tax figure had not yet been released to the city's website and that those monthly figures usually appear around the fifth of the month.
The council voted on the financial report by roll call and approved the report. No budget amendments, funding reallocations, or additional fiscal measures were proposed during the item.
