Staff said cleaning and televising of Geneva's storm sewers is required under the Illinois EPA (IEPA) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit and is conducted on a 16-year rotation.
During discussion Alderperson Vasquez Castro (committee member) asked whether the televising noted in the packet completed the townwide cycle; staff clarified the 16-year rotation and said the contract continues that program rather than marking a one-time completion. Alderperson Kilberg asked about inclusion of Charles Street in the scope; staff said Charles Street was selected based on where cleaning fell in the rotation, noting there are basins and storm sewers that feed through that area. The city also confirmed that cleaning of culverts or tubes under private driveways is performed upon request by staff but is not part of the routine cleaning program unless requested.
The council approved the contract by voice vote without recorded opposition. Superintendent (present in audience) was available for follow-up questions per staff.
