Dean Cruz summarized the plan: "The existing building is, right at 10,000 square feet. We're gonna add about 2,000 square feet," he said, describing a fitness room, locker rooms with showers and a reconfigured break room and kitchen area.
Cruz outlined technical work that will accompany the addition, including a video wall, additional monitors in five offices, a buzz‑lock at the front door and upgrades to power and HVAC; he said running power and fiber to the gate may require an electrical‑service upgrade. The construction estimate presented rounded to $1,300,000 for new construction, $45,000 to run power and fiber, and $15,000 for miscellaneous electrical work, bringing the subtotal with tax to $1,460,583. The presenter noted there may be additional soft costs for furniture and fitness equipment.
The commission voted to approve the expansion resolution. The motion was moved and seconded on the record and a roll call recorded affirmative votes from attending commissioners. The county will proceed with design and procurement steps; staff said additional utility and permitting work remains, and any required electrical upgrades will be evaluated as the project advances.
