After interviews of 17 applicants, the Santa Paula City Council appointed members to several advisory bodies and commissions.
The council approved appointments to the Measure R oversight committee: Cheryl Monzon and Mary Dinas were appointed to four-year terms; Sandra Tadeo, Lina Partida and Citlali Salgado were appointed to two-year terms. During the selection process the council used district-based filtering and a two-round straw poll to reach majority support for each seat.
The council also appointed Eric Butler and Olav Hassell to the Mobile Home Rent Review Commission for two-year terms. City staff noted the commission will have pending hearings, and the City Clerk was asked to notify the new appointees promptly because at least one hearing was expected before May 19.
On Parks and Recreation the council reappointed Cassidy Straits as the youth representative and appointed Maria Laura Cordova to a three-year term as the regular commissioner.
Council members and staff thanked applicants and noted the high number of qualified candidates; the city clerk said the pool will remain available for future openings and reminded residents that other advisory positions (including a senior advisory vacancy) may be filled later.
The appointments were approved by voice votes; formal roll-call tallies were not recorded in the minutes provided.
