Mayor Neitzke Trojke's appointment of Robert Schaller to the Village of Homer Glen board was approved at a special meeting Thursday, and Schaller was sworn in to serve the remainder of the term expiring in May 2027.
The trustees voted on a motion to accept the mayoral appointment after moving the item up the agenda so the new trustee could participate in a community recognition earlier in the meeting. Trustee Mason moved to accept the appointment; Trustee Reinders seconded. The clerk recorded aye votes from Trustees LaPore, Mueller, Mason and Reinders and announced, “Motion carries.”
Trustee Mason said the board had conducted an “extensive interview process with multiple candidates” and called Schaller “a welcome asset to the team” because of his experience. Schaller thanked the mayor and the trustees and said he looked forward to working with staff and the board.
Madam Clerk completed the swearing-in immediately after the vote. The appointment fills the vacant seat through the May 2027 election cycle and allows Schaller to participate in board business and committee assignments going forward.
No additional formal conditions or amendments to the appointment were recorded at the meeting.
