The Brentwood Board of Aldermen on April 7 approved an ordinance authorizing the mayor or city administrator to execute the 2024 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) municipal housing and community development supplemental cooperation agreement with St. Louis County.
Staff told the board the county manages the program and the city’s reimbursement for eligible home improvements is up to $7,500 per household. The supplemental agreement raises the total allocation the county manages on the city’s behalf from $20,000 to $40,000; staff said prior-year funds were fully expended and 19 residents currently remain on a waiting list for assistance.
Procedure remains the same: St. Louis County administers the funds under a contract with the city, manages applicants, and issues grants. Staff said the county had asked the city to delay public notices last year because of demand; the city will resume outreach when the county signals it is ready to accept new applications.
The board conducted a second reading and perfected Bill 65‑50; a roll-call vote recorded eight yes votes and no noes. The ordinance will be placed into the minutes with its assigned number.
