The Brentwood Board of Aldermen on April 21 elected Alderman Parker Tice as acting president of the board and approved a slate of aldermanic committee reassignments and citizen board appointments.
A nomination process was held by ballot; the chair announced the result as a 4-to-3 vote in favor of Parker Tice. The mayor asked members to mark confidential ballots and the city administrator tallied them. The mayor reported the ballots indicated Parker Tice would serve as acting president.
The mayor explained his appointment philosophy of equal representation among the city’s four wards and a preference to rotate aldermen onto the Ways and Means Committee. Under his nominations, Alderman Parker Tice was named chair of the Ways and Means Committee; Alderman Michelle Goad, Alderman Gould and Alderman Erger were named members of that committee. Alderman Steve Lochmiller was named chair of the Public Works Committee and Alderman Gould was moved to Public Safety, which the mayor said would be chaired by Alderman Dave Plovka with Aldermen Sims and Harder also serving.
The board approved miscellaneous liaison and board assignments: Alderwoman Sharon Harder as the library liaison; Alderman Erger to replace Alderman Tice on the Police and Fire Pension Board and to serve as Deputy Excise Commissioner; Alderman Tice and Christine Bridal were named to the Sustainability Commission (SusCom).
The mayor also announced citizen appointments. For the Board of Adjustment he named Stephanie Bass, Mike Bessemer and Mehdi Toma (name as read into the record). Communications committee appointments included Carrie Wege, Lois Truman and Craig Pennington. The 353 Redevelopment Corporation appointments included Ryan Flynn (appointment from the Brentwood School District) and Darren Sorrell.
The board approved the nominations in a single motion; the chair recorded an affirmative voice vote and announced the motion carried.
Members made remarks thanking outgoing Alderman Brandon Wege for his long service during the transition.
