The Oak Grove Board of Alderwomen on July 21 voted to amend the city's agreement with Just Chillin' Sweets and Treats to move the vendor's regular food-truck night from Wednesdays to the third Friday of each month and to extend the contract through Oct. 17, 2025.
Anita Tilton, speaking for Just Chillin', told the board the change responded to community requests and could improve attendance. Tilton said some churches and other groups hold events on Wednesdays and noted vendors from neighboring communities had expressed interest in attending on a Friday evening. She said the vendor would follow the contract criteria in place and could adjust a given month (for example, to avoid conflict with Homecoming) if a community event fell on the third Friday.
Board members discussed consistency for promotion and potential conflicts with school events. One board member noted Homecoming and other events might fall on the third Friday and suggested allowing moves only when necessary. The board voted to amend the agreement; the motion passed by voice vote. The mayor and city staff confirmed the amended schedule takes effect immediately and that the first Friday event under the new schedule will begin next month.
Tilton also reported community service activity tied to the food truck: she said the truck served about 200 donated meals in connection with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a local bed-building event. The board encouraged the vendor's plans to work with the Chamber of Commerce in the future.
Action summary: Motion to amend the contract to change the regular night to the third Friday of each month and extend the agreement through Oct. 17, 2025; the motion passed by voice vote and the amended schedule takes effect immediately.
