The Architectural Review Board approved an addition at 9701 White on June 18 after reviewing elevations, materials and proposed front‑porch screening. The project proposes demolishing an attached garage and constructing a brick front addition with siding on secondary faces.
Matt Shaver of Shaver Architecture presented the plans, which show brick to match the existing façade on primary elevations, new siding on secondary faces and a proposed reduction from five to three front porch columns. Board members discussed the front porch screening: the city's proposed design ordinance (not yet adopted) would limit screening on front porches, but the existing porch is behind the setback and the board did not object to a high‑quality manufactured screening product if detailed.
The board asked the applicant to note the siding color on the plans; the applicant indicated the intent is a sage green with white trim, and the board required that color be annotated. The board also supported replacing five columns with three and adding a band board detail at the porch.
Action: A motion to approve as modified (noting color as "sage green" and matching brick where indicated) carried; the board instructed staff to add the color note to the approval and advised the applicant to coordinate final details during permitting.
Next steps: Applicant to submit color notes and final drawings at permit application; staff will process permits and inspections per standard building department procedures.
