The Board of Aldermen on July 21 approved a site-development plan for security upgrades at the Brentwood Metrolink station (8398 Eager Road / 1401 Music Memorial Drive). The project is part of Metro’s secure-platform plan and will install fencing, gated access and closed-circuit cameras along the station platform.
Kelly Haydeniak, project manager for Metro’s secure-platform plan, presented the project and said the work uses the same materials and system already deployed at other St. Louis-area stations. Haydeniak told the board the fencing design had received a variance from the city’s Board of Adjustment (to allow metal materials and heights exceeding the usual limit adjacent to the right-of-way) and that Metro expects construction to begin within a few weeks and to finish in January 2026.
Aldermen asked for clarification that the approval covered both fencing and gates; Haydeniak confirmed both are included. The board approved a same-night second reading and perfected the ordinance; roll call recorded unanimous support, and the city clerk will proceed with the site-development permit process. Metro said the work is a contractor-awarded project and the city’s planning staff will coordinate inspection and construction timing with Metro during the project period.
The approved work is limited to security hardware, site modifications and CCTV installation; Metro said amenity improvements or platform expansion are not part of the current package.
