Brentwood opens public hearing on 2025 property tax rates; final vote deferred

The Brentwood Board of Aldermen opened a public hearing on establishing property tax rates for 2025, heard a staff presentation, recorded no public comments and closed the hearing to take formal action at a later meeting.
City staff member Michelle told the board the meeting packet contains the assessed values and proposed rates for the general fund, the police and fire pension fund, and the debt service fund. She noted that rates must be submitted by Oct. 1 to St. Louis County and to the Missouri state auditor’s office and confirmed the city completes this action annually.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing. The mayor closed the hearing and the board indicated the item will return for formal consideration at a subsequent meeting before the statutory filing deadline.
This hearing was a procedural requirement to receive public comment and present the rate information; no levy or rate was adopted at the meeting.
