The Greene County Board of Commissioners approved an updated employee handbook May 29, the first comprehensive revision since 2012, aligning handbook language with current county policies and adding Juneteenth to the list of observed holidays.
County staff said policy amendments are often passed individually but the 2012 handbook had become outdated; the updated document consolidates prior policy changes and updates holiday listings, job titles and other references. Staff also noted that for the first time the handbook's signature page includes the names of all elected officials, and that the county worked to obtain outstanding signatures, including a judge's signature, the morning of the meeting.
Commissioners described the update as evidence of improved collaboration between elected officials and the HR department and said making the handbook current helps elected offices and staff use county HR services. The motion to approve the updated handbook passed by roll-call vote.
