Commissioners authorize new fund for MBJRC operations and approve grant applications and small local expenditures

Greene County commissioners on June 17 approved several finance and grant-related actions, including creating a new fund to house a multi‑million-dollar operational grant and authorizing county staff to apply for and sign federal victim‑service grants.
The board established new fund 2789 to “house the operational grant for MBJRC,” described by staff as “a little over $2,800,000.” The motion to establish the fund passed by unanimous voice vote.
Commissioners also approved a staff request to allow Job and Family Services to spend up to $500 on food for staff during Child Support Awareness Month in August.
On victim services, staff said that VOCA funding had been drastically cut in prior years but that the county would see flat funding this cycle. The board authorized submission of applications for VOCA and SVA grants and designated David Hayes and Terry Loginesse as the county representatives authorized to sign grant documents.
Separately, staff described a grant in the amount of $94,816.88 aimed at reducing gun violence; the board authorized the president to sign the grant documents.
All actions were approved by unanimous vote.
