Joe Morehouse, introduced at Thursday’s Greene County Board of Commissioners meeting as an executive director and new appointee to the county’s Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) board, received an orientation manual and a Greene County gift as commissioners welcomed him.
A county presenter explained that the CVB created an orientation manual to provide new board members guidance about who to contact and the responsibilities of serving on a county-appointed board. The presenter encouraged appointees to be proactive and to raise concerns if they disagree with a board direction.
“Everybody's got a better idea than everybody else. And so you need to come up with your idea and what that might be and bring that to the board,” the presenter said while introducing the manual and welcoming Morehouse.
Morehouse spoke briefly about his background, saying he has been with his organization for three years, was previously a district manager at Sam’s for 25 years and that he is a father of two in college. Commissioners invited him forward for a photo, handed him the orientation packet and a Greene County gift, and congratulated him on the appointment. A presenter noted, “We’ve already passed a resolution. You've already appointed him. Just come down and do a photo.”
The board did not discuss duties, term length, or any specific responsibilities tied to the appointment during the public portion of the meeting.
