Greene County commissioners on June 17 approved multiple construction contract awards and authorized entering contracts for projects including the Dayton‑Xenia shared‑use path and the Old Stage Road bridge.
Staff reported they received seven bids for the Dayton‑Xenia shared‑use path — a Safe Routes to School and master trail plan project connecting Ankeny Road to East School Drive — and recommended awarding the contract to Double J Construction. The board voted to award the bid and then voted to enter into a contract with Double J Construction for the work.
County staff also told the board that the previously awarded bid for the Old Stage Road bridge will be finalized with a contract with Eagle Bridge Company. “You've awarded the bid at last week's meeting. This is entering into the contract with Eagle Bridge to construct the new Old Stage Road bridge,” a staff member said before the board approved entering the agreement.
In housing-related repairs, the board awarded a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) home electrical-repair bid for 1371 Massachusetts Drive to Acorn Construction for a low bid of $4,350 and approved that award.
All three contract actions were moved, seconded and approved by unanimous voice vote.
The Dayton‑Xenia shared‑use path work was described as an initial segment of a longer trail network; staff said subsequent contracts and further work will follow as the project advances.
