Greene County opened and closed a public hearing May 29 to establish the county's PY25 CHIP application, describing a proposed $700,000 request split between HOME and CDBG sources and outlining planned uses for administrative and owner-occupied rehabilitation funding.
Christi Tighe, Greene County Department of Development, told the board the county plans to request $700,000, including $49,000 in HOME administration, $441,000 in HOME owner-occupied rehabilitation, $210,000 in CDBG funding with $21,000 for administration, $5,000 for fair housing and $184,000 for owner-occupied repair. Tighe said the application is due to the state by June 25 and, if awarded on the usual schedule, funds would be released in January 2026 and the county would work from its existing waiting list.
Commissioners asked how applicants are notified; Tighe said the department coordinates outreach with local zoning offices, public notices and radio advertising in partnership with the City of Fairborn. The hearing closed with no immediate vote authorizing final submission documented in the public record; staff indicated any required authorizations will be obtained later, noting coordination with city councils as needed.
The CHIP program targets owner-occupied rehabilitation and related housing supports; county staff will continue outreach and prepare the application for submission by the state deadline.
