Greene County commissioners on Thursday voted to establish a new noninterest-bearing county fund, No. 2845, to accept a $36,336.65 grant intended to cover salaries and overtime for members of a county task force.
County staff told the board the fund has no required local match and that the award can be used for task-force payroll and overtime. The board approved a motion to establish the fund and the measure passed by voice vote.
The new fund was described by county staff as “a noninterest bearing fund. House a grant award of $36,336.65 with no matching funds. Money can be used to cover salaries and overtime for the task force members.” Commissioners then moved and seconded the measure; the vote was recorded as a series of “Aye” votes and the motion carried.
The establishment of Fund 2845 will allow the county to open a purchase order and accept the award into a discrete accounting line, county staff said. No additional conditions, spending breakdowns, or program names were specified during the discussion.
County staff and commissioners did not identify the grant source by name during the public meeting. The board did not attach a separate implementation schedule or reporting deadline during the motion.
The action occurred during the regular June 5 Greene County Board of Commissioners meeting, as the board handled routine fiscal and administrative business.
