City staff updated the Board of Aldermen that all easement signatures for the Jackson Street sidewalk project have been completed and recorded. Because of easement rearrangements, staff issued an addendum and extended the bid period three days to allow contractors an extra weekend to incorporate the changes. Staff said there are no longer easement issues and that the addendum was published last week. The updated bid deadline was pushed to the Tuesday after Labor Day to accommodate the addendum and provide bidders additional time. No contract awards or contractor selections were announced at the meeting. Staff described ongoing construction activity and thanked crews working in the heat; no schedule for award or start of construction was provided on the record.
