The City of Olivette issued a boil-water advisory on the morning of June 24 after a 20-inch water main ruptured in the Overland area near Pasteur and Midland, affecting about half the city, the city manager said.
The advisory covers areas north of Olive, including the city center, 5 Oaks and the Public Works facility, the city manager said at the June 24 City Council meeting. "It came out this morning early this morning about 05:00. The break is actually in Overland at Pasteur And Midland," the city manager said.
City staff said crews responded immediately and that the break caused significant street damage and a large loss of water. The manager told the council that the city provided bottled water to police, fire, inspectors and camp operations and expected the advisory to remain in place for about 48 hours. "And it's expected, that we will be under the boil water advisory for the next 48 hours," the city manager said.
Officials did not announce a formal evacuation or closures beyond advising residents not to drink the water. The city said public services will continue while the advisory is in effect and that more information would be posted as repairs proceed.
Council members asked procedural questions but took no formal action during the meeting; the city manager handled operational coordination and community notification.
Residents seeking details or updates were advised to consult the city's communications channels for boil-water instructions, safety steps and any timeline changes.
