Soccer goal order delayed; staff exploring temporary practice options before September games

In an update under old business, Beverly Tucker Knight told the Elevate Parks Foundation that previously approved competition soccer goals have been ordered but the vendor is delayed and the goals may not arrive on the original schedule. The board was told staff is working with the vendor and exploring temporary alternatives such as practice-only goals that cannot be left outdoors or used for official games.
Tucker Knight said practices are ongoing and that the department needs the goals to be in place by game season in September. "We need them here by game time, which is in September," she said. Staff reported the vendor indicated a two-week possible delay but that staff is "taking it up the chain with the company" to resolve the timing.
The board discussed alternative models suitable for practice-only use; Tucker Knight said practice units would work for training but not for sanctioned games. No formal motion or funding decision was made at the meeting; the update was informational and staff will continue to pursue delivery or a short-term rental/purchase alternative.
