The Elevate Parks Foundation on Aug. 5 voted unanimously to adopt a new logo: a solid green oak leaf paired with dark brown text. The motion passed on a 5–0 roll-call vote; Chairman Clark, Board member Weil, Board member Solomanoff, Board member Lewis and Board member Prashant Hellman all voted yes.
Director Beverly Tucker Knight presented several logo options after the board requested refinements at a previous meeting. "If we make a hat or a shirt or anything, it's really easy and not super expensive," Tucker Knight said, explaining that a simpler leaf without veins makes reproduction on merchandise easier and less costly than the city's full-logo mark.
The nut graf: the vote resolves the primary branding decision for the new foundation and clears the way for staff to produce color samples for apparel and materials. Board members discussed color contrast and merchandising practicality; some members preferred brown text on green for better contrast, and Tucker Knight agreed to circulate a brown-on-green version by email for final minor spacing adjustments.
Board discussion also touched on merchandise choices and accessibility: members noted that green-on-green combinations reduce contrast for embroidered or printed shirts, and suggested navy or brown options for hats and shirts. Staff said they will provide updated files and color samples and may hold a short follow-up meeting or email vote if final spacing or color tweaks require board action.
The decision was procedural and focused on identity and cost-efficiency; no formal budget allocation tied to production was approved during the meeting. Staff will return with finalized artwork and production cost estimates if the board wants sample merchandise.
