City staff briefs aldermen on multiple infrastructure and development projects

City staff updated the Board on ongoing projects including the South Sanitary Sewer project, Ash Street and Town Creek work, airport runway completion, asphalt program, T-Mobile grant builds and Harrisonville Commons due diligence.
City staff provided a broad project update June 16 covering public-works, parks and development activity across Harrisonville.
The city administrator reported the South Sanitary Sewer Project remains active and that liquidated damages assessed to date total $103,500 to the contractor. The BakerDyce/Beckerdite stormwater project’s construction drawings are 90% complete; the Ash Street, Bridal and Town Creek projects are awaiting revised contractor bids after value-engineering changes. The airport runway project is complete and signed off.
Public-works plans include an asphalt mill overlay on Orchard Road and Avenue to the Cass County line and rebuilding the wastewater-treatment access drive and UV disinfection structure (approximately 7,600 square yards). Staff also said the city will try microsurfacing for parts of Thunderbird Subdivision instead of chip seal. Park staff are installing a T-Mobile hometown-community grant build with a dog-park shade ribbon cutting scheduled for June 26 at 5:30 p.m. The traffic-and-parking study has returned about 125 survey responses so far. Finally, the Harrisonville Commons development is in due diligence; Banker Tilly is conducting the financial review, which staff said will take about four to five weeks before coming back to the board for final action.
