Warrenton reports brisk building activity; multiple residential and commercial projects moving forward

Director of Operations John Struckoff reported that the city's building and development season remains active in June, with staff issuing 82 permits, closing 64 and completing 249 inspections that month. "Ivy League Homes, RALS and ELS are continuing to build at a very rapid pace with single family homes," Struckoff told aldermen.
Struckoff said new builder MH Thornton Homes will start soon after finishing utility work in their subdivision off McGee. He reported progress on several specific projects: a duplex by Mr. Wolf on Wolf Road where "they poured the last foundation," the school's "safe building" with walls up and nearing completion, the 47 Dobbs site with retention basins and walls under way, and work at the Hampton Inn site where the building pad is complete and utilities are nearing completion.
Building activity and inspections were described as "very busy," and staff said they will continue monitoring progress as projects move toward occupancy and commercial openings. No zoning changes, variances or formal planning applications were voted on at the July 15 meeting; items for planning and zoning were noted as forthcoming for a future meeting.
