The Board of Aldermen on June 16 approved an ordinance directing city staff to acquire necessary temporary and permanent easements for the Beckerdite Stormwater Drainage Improvements Project, which includes installing stormwater sewer mains 15 to 48 inches in diameter.
City staff told aldermen they are continuing negotiations with property owners and will proceed with condemnation filings if a negotiated agreement cannot be reached; staff emphasized they will keep negotiating up until the day of any court proceeding. The ordinance was approved on a motion from Alderman Fouch with a second from Alderman Turner and became Ordinance 3733.
Staff described the current phase as limited to securing easements (temporary and permanent) and said no immediate construction action is taken by the ordinance itself; further steps will follow once easements are secured.
