Board adopts grouped budget amendments, moving vehicle-replacement, electric and police items into ordinance 3736

At the July 21 meeting the Board of Aldermen adopted an ordinance amending the City of Harrisonville’s 2025 operating budget to handle a set of grouped finance items, after suspending the rules to move the item to a second reading the same night.

Finance Director Jeremy (last name not given in the transcript) presented the grouped amendments, which the packet described as housekeeping and included changes to the vehicle replacement fund (VERF), adjustments for credit-card fees, a Lake Harrisonville pump replacement, a police-department grant, an electric-system study, electric tree-trimming budget, police evidence-room cameras and a customer-communication system for Hometown Bridal (described in staff notes). Jeremy told aldermen staff grouped the items to avoid multiple small amendments over the year.

Alderman Fouch moved to suspend the rules and move council bill 40 to a second reading; Alderman Turner seconded. A roll call on the suspension recorded ayes from Aldermen Fouch, Turner, Cheney, Davidson, Franklin and Milner; Aldermen Mills and Doorhoff were excused. The board then conducted an administrative second reading and adopted the ordinance by roll call; the ordinance was assigned No. 3736.

No public comment was recorded on this item. City staff will proceed with implementing the budget adjustments described in the ordinance.
