The Board of Aldermen approved second readings and adopted ordinances vacating portions of the Anaconda Road and Cedar Street rights-of-way and adopted a code amendment to the land-use table in the city’s zoning regulations.
Council bill 37, described as vacating a portion of the Anaconda Road right-of-way within the Missouri and Northern Arkansas Railroad right-of-way, was adopted as ordinance 3737 after aldermen said staff had received no calls or emails on the matter.
Council bill 38, vacating part of the Cedar Street right-of-way adjacent to Block 30 Dutra’s Addition, south of Locust Street, became ordinance 3738; staff again reported no public contacts before the second reading.
Council bill 39, an amendment to Appendix A (the land-use table) under chapter 405 of the municipal code, was approved as ordinance 3739. On each of the three items staff reported there had been no phone calls or emails since the first readings.
Aldermen cast roll-call votes on each ordinance; the board approved all three items without recorded opposition.
Why it matters: Right-of-way vacations and code amendments can affect property development patterns and future private projects. According to staff, these were uncontested at the time of the second reading.
What’s next: The ordinances are effective as enacted and will be implemented by city staff and planning/public works as appropriate.
