Greene County commissioners on July 17 established two funds to house recently approved adult probation grants and approved a memorandum of understanding to clarify staffing protections linked to one of the grants.
County staff said Fund 2350 will hold a two-year community corrections grant totaling $1,136,024 and Fund 2351 will hold a TCAP grant totaling $873,739. “These are both for adult probation. $23.50 is for the community corrections grant you approved last week. It is a 2 year grant with totals $1,136,024. Fund 2351 is to house the TCAP grant, in the amount of $873,739,” the staff member said.
The board also approved a renewal of the TCAP memorandum of understanding. Staff explained the MOU documents the county’s practice of moving employees from the general fund to grant funding and provides a written commitment that if the grant ends, affected employees will be returned to general-fund positions. “Basically to give them some security… it’s memorialized that if we lose that grant, those people will go back on the general fund,” the staff member said.
Commissioners approved establishing the funds and authorized the county administrator to sign the MOU. The transcript records affirmative voice votes for both actions.
