The Greene County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 4 approved certification of August sewer-charge liens covering properties in Clark and Greene counties. County staff said the county typically certifies sewer liens twice a year, in February and August, and cannot shut off sewer service, though it can shut off water for nonpayment.

Staff reported three Clark County properties totaling $1,508.38 and multiple Greene County properties totaling $80,337.83 are included in the certification. Staff said many of the accounts on the lien list were repeat delinquencies; in most cases the water has already been shut off for nonpayment.

The board approved the motion to certify the liens and proceed with lien placement. Commissioners recorded affirmative votes for the motion.
