During announcements at the July 29 Lawrence County Commissioners meeting, a levy committee representative identified as Julie invited residents to a Developmental Disabilities levy kickoff event on Friday, Aug. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the South Point Community Center. Julie said the event will include people who receive services discussing what services mean to them, information about taxpayer costs, volunteer sign-ups and websites with relevant information.
Julie said free food will be provided and that the event is paid for by the Lawrence County Advocates for DD, the levy committee. She also said committee materials would be filed to proceed with the levy effort.
County staff announced a send-off fundraiser for Olivia Fosin, Miss Ohio, set for Sunday, Aug. 3, at Stone Creek Farms Venue and Cottages. Officials described two sessions: a 1:30–3 p.m. event for people ages up to 18 with an autograph and photo opportunity, and a 4–6 p.m. send-off event. The announcement said tickets and details are available at olivia.missohio.org and that proceeds will help cover expenses related to her participation in the Miss America competition.
