Lawrence County commissioners offer condolences after EMS crew member's death

The Lawrence County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 9 expressed condolences after the death of Lawrence County Emergency Medical Services crew member Mike Campbell, who died the day before the meeting.
A county official opened the item, saying the commission's "condolences to his family" and noting the county stands ready to help EMS staff and the crew's family. The board asked that support be conveyed to Campbell's spouse, Megan, who is also an EMS employee.
"I'd just like to add that we we're profoundly grateful for Mike's service, to our county," a commissioner said, and asked the community to hold Campbell's family and the EMS team in their thoughts and prayers during what he called "a very difficult time."
Separately, the board announced a community fundraiser: a spaghetti dinner at the Knights of Columbus from 4 to 7 p.m., $10 per meal, with proceeds going to Lawrence County Advocates for Developmental Disabilities. Commissioners also received and agreed to forward correspondence about open burning complaints to the county's solid waste department for follow-up.
The board said it will communicate additional support options for EMS staff and notify the public of any community resources to assist the family.
