Board awards $961,883 contract to build Riverfront Park East parking lot

The Village of Carpentersville awarded a contract Aug. 19 to Abbey Construction Company Inc. of Aurora to build the East parking lot for Riverfront Park, the lowest of seven bids at $961,883.36.

Director Dabrowski said the East parking lot will provide about 54 parking spaces and is the first of two park construction phases; the West Side will be bid separately later this year. The village said it secured a cross access easement with the adjoining property owner and advertised the project per Illinois Department of Transportation requirements and municipal procurement rules.

HR Green reviewed the bids for responsiveness, certificate of eligibility and apprenticeship certification required under the village’s responsible bid standards. Staff said the village budgeted the park project within its capital improvement program and has $4 million set aside for the overall park.

Trustee Frost moved to award the contract; Trustee Malone seconded. Roll call approved the contract.

Work is expected to proceed under the terms of the contract and in coordination with the overall Riverfront Park construction schedule.
