Mayor Newell told the council that a mobile emissions testing unit from the Illinois air team will operate in Calumet City’s River Oaks Mall parking lot beginning July 28 and continuing through December 2025. “They will be in the parking lot Monday through Friday, 10AM to 4PM, and then Saturdays, 8 to 2. The testing unit will be on-site starting July 28 through December 2025,” Newell said.

Newell said the service would allow residents to take vehicle emissions tests locally rather than traveling to Markham. Officials indicated the schedule will be posted on the city's website and encouraged residents who received notices to use the local site.
