Alderman seeks explanation of $164,000 payment flagged in supplemental packet

Alderman Wilson raised questions about an item in the meeting’s supplemental packet that she said showed a former employee or contractor receiving $164,000 and a $12,000 payment in the current pay period. Wilson said she would forward an email to the finance chair and asked for clarification: "I had a question as to why a former other person, will be making a $164,000 from the city. As what's in our supplemental packet, he actually received $12,000 this pay period," she said, adding she wants to know what that person is doing and asked for the finance chair to respond. The council did not discuss personnel files, hiring actions or provide additional payroll detail in open session. The mayor and the finance chair were asked to follow up with Wilson; no formal inquiry or vote was recorded at the meeting. Wilson asked that staff provide information on that employee and on other high payments she observed in the supplemental packet. The council did not release names beyond the description in the council member’s question.
