Lucas County votes to join multiple opioid settlements and approve Purdue Pharma bankruptcy ballot

Lucas County commissioners on Sept. 9 approved four resolutions to participate in national opioid settlements and to vote in the Purdue Pharma bankruptcy process.
The board approved participation via settlement agreements for the Purdue and Sackler family settlement, and for settlements covering manufacturers including Alvogen, Amneal, Apotex, Hikma, Indivior, Mylan, Sun and Zitis (as presented). The board also approved participation in a settlement agreement for Sandoz and authorized voting approval in the Purdue Pharma bankruptcy ballot. The clerk called the roll for each resolution and the board voted in favor of the measures.
The resolutions were presented together as a group; no detailed allocation or distribution plan was discussed on the record at the meeting. County staff indicated the votes authorize county participation and further administrative steps necessary to register and claim any applicable settlement funds under the terms of each agreement.
