Commissioners confirm personnel appointments and promotions after executive session

After convening an executive session Sept. 9 to discuss personnel and pending litigation, the Lucas County commissioners returned and approved multiple appointments and promotions across county departments.
Human Resources presented the appointments and promotions that the board approved by roll call. Actions included the hire of James Lekman as an Economic Support Worker in the Department of Job and Family Services at $16.88 per hour (probationary period per the collective bargaining agreement); Jennifer Howard as an Account Clerk Specialist in the Child Support Enforcement Agency at $18.16 per hour; Avery Johnson and LC Lanke as Canine Care Technicians; Carolyn Chapman as Personnel Officer 2 (nonbargaining) at $34.36 per hour; Jordan Walker as Custodial Worker 2 at $15.25 per hour; and the promotion of Nathan Bolch to Deputy Director of Facilities at $45.10 per hour. The appointments specified applicable bargaining-unit pay grades, steps and probationary periods where required by the county's collective bargaining agreements.
The board also authorized attendance at the executive session by legal counsel. Commissioners voted to approve each personnel action by roll call immediately after the executive session.
