Heidi Swindell, representing the Summit County Engineer's Office, told council the county receives an annual minimum allocation from the Ohio Public Works Commission and must authorize an application to accept those funds. "We receive a minimum allocation through the Ohio Public Works Commission. Even though we automatically get it, we still have to go through the application process," Swindell said.
The resolution authorizes the executive to execute an OPWC Local Transportation Improvement Program grant application and related documents to accept up to $385,000 for phase 4 of Boston Mills Road resurfacing (approximately 2,500 feet westward from the end of phase 3) in Boston Township, Council District 1, with no local cash match. Council moved to suspend the rules and adopt the resolution on an emergency basis and the motion carried.
Swindell said the county has used the OPWC allocation in prior years for small resurfacing projects and expects this phase to cost in the same $350,000 to $400,000 range. No vote tally was read into the record beyond the chair's call of "Aye" and the statement that the motion carries.
