The Public Safety Committee amended and approved intergovernmental agreements that will let the county’s Division of Animal Control provide animal control services to participating Summit County municipalities for a five‑year term beginning Sept. 1, 2025.
The amended resolution authorizes the executive to execute intergovernmental agreements with Summit County municipalities for animal control services provided by the Division of Animal Control for the period 09/01/2025 to 08/31/2030, with an option to renew for an additional five‑year term. “This is exactly what you just said. It's intergovernmental for animal control services for our cities and villages in Summit County to run for 5 years, with an option to renew,” Alex Byrd of the Department of Public Safety said.
Councilman Lacotte moved the amendment. The committee approved the amended resolution by voice vote. “Aye,” the chair recorded.
The measure was presented and adopted as emergency legislation.
No further contract terms, cost figures, or individual municipal participation lists were provided in the transcript segments reviewed.
