Commissioners approve four plats including final plat for residential subdivision in Liberty Township

Butler County commissioners approved four plats on Sept. 2, including a final plat for a new residential subdivision in Liberty Township.

Craig Flouty of the Department of Development described the four items: a replat in Highland Acres (Westchester Township) to adjust a drainage easement so a new house can meet front-yard setbacks; a lot consolidation in Madison Township (Jacob Kent's addition) to combine two skewed lots into one; a replat in Milford Township to combine a vacant lot with a lot containing a home so an accessory structure can be built; and a final plat for "Care of All Section 3" in Liberty Township proposing 20 new residential lots on 24.866 acres, which the Planning Commission approved on June 10, 2025.

Questions from commissioners focused on the Liberty Township diagram and open-space areas; Flouty confirmed those areas were open space. After discussion, a commissioner moved to approve the resolutions as submitted and the board recorded unanimous approval. “Move to approve the resolutions as submitted,” a commissioner said; another commissioner seconded and the roll call recorded three yes votes.

Why it matters: the plats clear title and record lot configurations necessary for building or development and reflect local land-use oversight by county planning and engineering staff. The Liberty Township final plat will create 20 new residential lots, which will proceed through local development processes.

Action details: a motion was made and seconded to approve the four plats; Commissioners Carpenter, Rogers and Dixon each voted yes. The Planning Commission had previously approved the Liberty Township final plat on 06/10/2025.

Next steps: recording of replats and final plat per normal county procedures, permitting and any stormwater or right-of-way work coordinated with the county engineer and stormwater authorities.
